2023 Lessons

What can I say about 2023? WHAT. A. YEAR.

2023 was somehow (I’m not sure how, but somehow…) tougher than the year I had in 2022.

God, must my character development arc be this long?

I experienced so much of life - going through extreme highs and the lowest lows of my adulthood. It was, as you may guess, quite a lot to deal with. But, I’m extremely proud of myself for making it through and for taking a lot of time to self-reflect and find the purest version of myself through it all.

Here are my lessons learned from 2023:

  1. A step forward is a step forward - no matter how ‘small’ of a step you think you’re taking. Moving forward is the only way to keep trekking on. Be 1% better every day and watch your progress and growth compound.

  2. Stop waiting for ‘One day,’ let today be Day One. Cue a pat on my back for finally getting my travel blog and YouTube channel up!

  3. Health is wealth. Take the time to take care of your body, your mind, and your soul, and watch you move along life with more ease.

  4. Check on your strong friends.

  5. Fall in love with yourself first. You cannot pour out of an empty cup.

  6. If I’m too much, please go find less. (Seriously, don’t water yourself down for anyone)

  7. Being intentional makes a world’s difference.

Some background: I feel like I’ve lived life on auto-drive for a long time. It wasn’t until I went through a debilitating injury that I took some time to figure out what was truly important to me in my life and what type of life I wanted to lead. I felt my joy becoming brighter because I finally had a more clear and intentional way of going about my life.

  8. Leave the past in the past.

Letting go is hard, but not everything you carry needs to stay with you forever… especially if it’s heavy to hold.

  9. Today may be hard. Tomorrow may be hard. But, you may also have the best day of your life this year. Keep going, I promise - it’ll all be worth it in the end.
